Following are pictures from the 30th anniversary celebrations for "2001: A Space Odyssey" hosted by the American Film Institute. The event was held April 30, 1998 at the Writers Guild Theatre in Beverly Hills, California. The evening featured a screening of the 1968 science fiction classic directed by Stanely Kubrick. A panel discussion was also held where the film's author, Arthur C. Clarke, joined in live via the internet from his home in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
